Renault Zoe ZE – Electric Car

Due for release in Autumn 2012, the Renault Zoe ZE is a step in the right direction for electric cars. It has a longer range from its Li-Ion battery and is not as restrictive as electric cars usually are. It boasts Renault's new 'face' which will be seen in similar guises across the whole range and is much nicer- looking than versions available right now. The Renault Zoe ZE has five seats. The current price has not yet been confirmed.

Renault Zoe ZE – Car Tax Exempt

Due to it being an electric-powered vehicle, there will be no car tax band and therefore it will save drivers at least £100 per year, or more by the time it is launched.

Renault Zoe ZE – Zero C02 Emissions

Electric cars do not emit any CO2 gases, except for those made when producing the batteries themselves. Once the car is built, there are no exhaust fumes, meaning they are seen as being environmentally friendly.

Renault Zoe ZE – Safety

Renault is always at the forefront of safety technology and regularly surpasses the European standard's highest safety rating (EuroNCAP). By late 2011, no doubt, the goal posts will have moved again, but Renault will match or better the safety rating officials set out.

Renault Zoe ZE – Running Costs

Running costs will be stupendously low. If Renault can keep the weight of the vehicle down then the only consumable will be the tyres, and even then tyre technology could change and they could last for 20,000 miles plus. Insurance costs are generally high with electric vehicles, so that would be the only concern.

Renault Zoe ZE – Comfort

The seats in the Renault Zoe ZE look very comfortable and it appears there is plenty of leg room in the rear for at least two adults. The suspension in Renaults generally can be a little wallowy at times, which is comfortable over potholes but can feel uneasy over bumps.

Renault Zoe ZE – Quality Finish

Renault over-delivers when it comes to the quality of its interiors. After having to shrug off the stigma of the old French cars being unreliable and of a poor standard, since the year 2000, Renault has taken its quality of materials used and the overall finish of its cars very seriously.

Renault Zoe ZE – Perfromance

Performance figures have been stated as being 0-60mph in 6.1 seconds and onto 84mph. That is huge in terms of a regular-sized, electric city car. With the size being similar to a Clio, the weight should be near to 1100kg, meaning that driving briskly could be very entertaining.

Renault Zoe ZE – Size

Although the batteries can take up a lot of the boot space, Renault is continually trying to design them so they do not impede normal load-lugging qualities. There are many cup-holders and a good- sized space in the rear, particularly when the rear seats are folded down. Being small, it is easy to park. The car is 4.086 meters long and 1.788 meters wide.

Renault Zoe ZE – Driving Range Per Charge

As the Renault Zoe ZE sounds like a 'sports' electric car for the city, it could well be the next generation electric car which is not restricted to just being in the city. With a range of 100 miles from a full charge, the new Zoe looks like it could pave the way for green cars of the future.
